image12 Fall Weddings

June weddings are a popular choice but if you prefer something, a little less traditional and definitely much cooler fall weddings are a great option. This is the time of year when the leaves are turning and nature can provide a wide color array depending on where you live.

image23 Fall Weddings

Fall weddings also give you the opportunity to be very creative with wedding table decorations and wedding favours.

You will have a riot of colors to choose from with a fall wedding theme, burnt orange, yellows, reds, earthy tones and much more, which will make creating meaningful wedding favours and wedding table decorations both interesting and fun.

fall favours

Wedding table decorations for a fall event should include rich dark colors such as burgundy and gold, particularly if you live in a colder climate. These rich warm colors will offset the cold outdoors conditions and provide an air of festivity. Consider deep wine red tablecloths with gold runners and beautiful red rose centerpieces. As for wedding favours, you could choose personalized Hershey’s kisses with a fall motif wrapper.

Jewish weddings are a joining of two Jewish people in holy matrimony. The ceremony itself has two distinct stages, the first is the sanctification or betrothal and the second is the actual marriage.
One aspect of Jewish weddings that is different from many others is the fact that the betrothal stage actually requires a religious divorce to set aside. A traditional ceremony will take place under a canopy or huppah, symbolizing the building of a new home as the couple become man and wife.

image11 Jewish Weddings

If you are planning your very own Jewish wedding, you have no doubt been considering both the wedding favours and wedding table decorations, to say the least. Wedding favours are a common way to share your special day with your guests and leave them with something meaningful.

Personalized wedding favours such as wine glasses are a great choice, as are silk glass breaking bags; tiny candles and more are all perfectly acceptable. Table decorations can include traditional Jewish items such as fruit designs. The Torah speaks often of fruit as a symbol of plenty and what could be better for the new couple just starting out.

The days of white frosting and yellow cake wedding cakes seem to be long gone. Wedding cakes have always been a major concern for brides with design and cake toppers and colors, flavors or shapes up for discussion, among many other things.
These days, though, with the success of baking reality shows like “Ace of Cakes” and “Charm City Cakes,” it seems anything goes — and it does! Now most major cities have master cake artists that create whatever you can imagine from the ridiculous to the sublime in practically any flavor and colors you can dream of: A fantasy castle, your favorite pastime together, the restaurant where you shared your first kiss – all of these, and more, are easily turned into wedding cakes that will surely wow your guests, if not shock them into quiet submission, while doing the “Hokey Pokey.”

image11 21st Century Wedding Cakes: Anything Goes!

A quick search of wedding cake images results in pictures of the sublime to the ridiculous. His and hers caricature wedding cakes, anyone? Apparently, at least one couple thought it was the right thing to do for their special day, and we are sure they are not the most outrageous example.
Beyond just your own personal preference there may be family traditions at your house. There might also be strong national or cultural leanings that you should be aware of considering. For example, in Mexico traditionally they serve “Mexican Wedding Cakes” which are not wedding cakes at all, but cookies that look like donuts. These Mexican wedding cakes are made with nuts – any kind of nut will do, such as pecans, walnuts, pine nuts, almonds, peeled hazelnuts, or any combination of nuts. Topped off with powdered sugar and they are stacked up on large plates to serve hungry wedding guests.

Image21 21st Century Wedding Cakes: Anything Goes!

In some Asian countries they prefer non-dairy ingredients. In Japan some people go for lots of fake cakes at the receptions, hiding the real wedding cakes in the kitchen until it is time to eat.

image31 21st Century Wedding Cakes: Anything Goes!

In many European countries a wedding cake is not a wedding cake without an infusion of liquor. It seems every national preference includes plenty of whatever ingredient has come to symbolize abundance and prosperity. From marzipan to honey to dried fruits to caramel, almond paste, cream cheese or dates sweet, thick rich flavors seem to dominate the wedding cake palette. Bourbon, whisky and brandy are also frequent additions to the list of ingredients of many wedding cakes around the world.
Wedding cake designing has been around for hundreds of years. It’s an art, and like any art, the creation of any cake is an expression of the artist, and in this case, of the couple who are getting married. It’s the time in life when most people want to create an experience that will be the most fabulous and wonderful of all their memories, and the wedding cake in all its glory is a symbol that will live on and on in precious photos probably through many generations to come.

You want your wedding to be completely unique, but it is often difficult to find uniqueness in today’s world, when everything seems to be available to everyone everywhere. Sometimes the answer may just be in taking a look back to the past to create a retro wedding theme.
Taking a visit to a vintage clothing shop or two may just give you the inspiration you need for your retro wedding theme. A piece of lacey clothing can inspire a complete Victorian theme.

IMAGE1 Retro Wedding Themes Are a Throwback to Good Times

The Victorian era was known for its romantic sensibilities with lots of dainty touches, such as floral china patterns, small rosebuds, lacey touches everywhere and loads of elegance.

Did you know that the white wedding gown first came about during the Victorian era? So did white flower arrangements! The Victorian era also brought us such classic looks as the corset and petticoat and lace handkerchiefs. Formal Victorian gardens with summer parasols, long lace gloves, gorgeous flowers – these should add fire to your imagination!

IMAGE2 Retro Wedding Themes Are a Throwback to Good Times

IMAGE3 Retro Wedding Themes Are a Throwback to Good Times

Of course, your retro wedding theme should include Victorian-inspired wedding favors. Just like generations of wealthy people before them, Victorians felt that gifts reflected the wealth of the giver. Their wedding favors were extravagant and elegant, a reflection of how they saw themselves. If you choose a Victorian era retro wedding theme, be sure it inspires the luxurious, formal elegance of a high tea service or the formality of ballroom dancing.

IMAGE4 Retro Wedding Themes Are a Throwback to Good Times

Victorian wedding decorations should be ornate. Think lots of beading, decorative painted fans, lots of floral touches, pewter goblets – anything and everything ornate.
Be sure to include lots of intimate, symbolic tokens of prosperity for your guests and you’re sure to be a success. Maybe your idea of a great retro wedding theme is the glamorous 1930s Art Deco era, also known as the Roaring Twenties. This elegant, high class, yet sexy, free-wheeling period of time brought us fun-loving girls dressed as flappers, feather boas, long pearl necklaces and the speakeasies, where the popularity of jazz music began.

IMAGE5 Retro Wedding Themes Are a Throwback to Good Times

The big band era offers many options for post war retro chic. With the 1950s came Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, the birth of rock ‘n roll and poodle skirts. The 1960s revolutionized the world with The Beatles, free love, peasant blouses, flared jeans, floral headbands, Go-Go boots, Laugh-In, long hair and peace symbols everywhere. The 60’s also brought us Camelot and the Jackie Kennedy with the veiled pillbox hat and the Chanel suit. The 1970s brought us John Travolta as Johnny Manero, the Bee Gees, hot pants, disco and white suits for men.

With a little bit of fun research you can see what retro wedding theme sparks your interest the most. Using photos or actual relics from that time period will help you make important decisions about how to translate that era into wedding theme that will work for you. Your dress, the music, the decorations and the menu will all have to reflect the time period.

Whatever retro wedding theme you choose, it’s bound to come together in a way that will be memorable forever.

A perfect way to celebrate a marriage is to have a lilac and yellow wedding party. Most of the other themes out there are pretty expensive and hard to do. Take for example, the fairytale theme, which takes a lot of time to prepare and requires a lot of colours in decorations resulting in a cluttered look. That’s why it’s a good thing that you thought about using lilac and yellow since these colours are pretty simple to use as your motif. And that’s what you’re trying to achieve with this theme: simplicity and class.

Versatility is one benefit from this theme. Combining yellow with light colours like cobalt blue and light purple achieves a sophisticated and educated look. On the other hand, using darker colours would attain a classy vintage feel. In the end it really depends on your taste.

Speaking of taste, what better way to highlight your good taste in colours than on your attire? A yellow dress with ruffles would look absolutely stunning. It would magically take you to another time, specifically, the eighties. It will have the flower girls dreaming of a lilac and yellow wedding party of their own in the future. And that’s the magic of yellow. It makes things look classy.

image1 A Lilac and Yellow Wedding Party to Turn the Ordinary Into Extraordinary

You have two options when it comes to the cake. It’s either you go for a yellow cake or a lavender one. I think though, a four tier lavender cake would be your best bet.

Image2 A Lilac and Yellow Wedding Party to Turn the Ordinary Into Extraordinary

You can also have lemon herb chicken for the entrée coupled with long island ice tea for refreshments. To add an unusual but quirky side to a lilac and yellow wedding party you can always serve corn cobs wrapped with lilac impressed tissue. And if that doesn’t appease their pallets then you can bring in the heavy artillery. And by heavy artillery I mean crabs. The red of the crabs subtly bring out the yellows and the purples of your theme. These are just a few examples on several ways you can present the dishes.

With the decorations however you’re not limited to stick with the main themes. A touch of other colours here and there can go a long way in making a difference to your presentation. Why not have a bouquet of roses with the colours of orange, pink, and white. Mix in some sunflowers and lilacs and you’ll have a truly unique lilac and yellow wedding party.

image3 A Lilac and Yellow Wedding Party to Turn the Ordinary Into Extraordinary

As for the centrepiece you can have a big lavender candle set atop an elegant light yellow tablecloth. Bronze utensils can be used to give it that pizzazz. And to top it all off, you can strategically place a group of yellow and purple butterflies around the vicinity. There is nothing like a group of butterflies to make a lilac and yellow wedding party complete.

image4 A Lilac and Yellow Wedding Party to Turn the Ordinary Into Extraordinary

Truly, a lilac and yellow wedding party has that unique way of turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. And it does this with little effort involved. Whether you’re planning a wedding party or a bridal shower, a lilac and yellow theme help make that plan a reality.

If you come across a bride to be, or you are one yourself, you can bet that probably 95% of the thoughts in her head are about wedding plans. There are so many variables, and so many questions to be answered. There’s so much advance planning needed when you get married, that people need books to keep track of it all – if not to hire a wedding planner to do it all for them. If you’re a bride, chances are there are so many thoughts in your head about your to-do list, that you have to ask yourself every once in a while, “What’s this bride thinking?”

image 1

Aside from all the basic church, reception hall, music, decorations stuff, there are also many rules of etiquette to keep in mind. What does the maid of honor do? For what is the best man responsible? Where will the groom’s divorced father and his new family sit at the ceremony? How can the bride make sure weird Uncle Charlie does not wear something that will make him the butt of awkward jokes and whispers at the wedding reception? You get the idea.

image 2

It’s no wonder that the average bride can turn into a bridezilla. Her stress levels and blood pressure are going through the roof. Her hormones are probably on overdrive. She probably has a full-time job, as well as full responsibility for all household chores and cooking. Combine all of that with the lack of time that most of us feel anyway, giving into bad eating habits, and lack of exercise. It can definitely all put a big strain on the happy couple to be. When the poor bride then has to factor in the opinions of her parents and her parents-in-law, it can sometimes make a frazzled bride’s head (almost) explode!

image 3

Probably one of the best things a bride can do for herself is to prevent unnecessary thinking or worrying. A good strategy for dealing with all the responsibilities helps a lot. Successful people, who have a lot of responsibilities, know the value of creating a vision and then making a step by step plan from that vision. Where do you want to be in 12 months? What do you need to do to get there? How can you break those actions down into steps that you can take on a daily, weekly and monthly basis? What milestones can you set to make sure you’re still on the right track and moving along at the right pace? All of these things are important to keep your life as stress free as possible. It’s also essential to make sure you set aside time for yourself and for your fiancé.

image 4

If you can’t make time for yourself, your relationships will suffer. Don’t be afraid to ask your friends, your parents, your fiancé and his family for help. Learning how to delegate and trusting that other people can do an adequate job of accomplishing tasks are also very important qualities in life.

For a bride to be, one of the biggest decisions will be choosing the perfect wedding attire. For some women the process of shopping for wedding dresses is a huge adventure, for others a nightmare fraught with worry and anxiety and lots of “what ifs.”

Most women tend to have some vague mental image of the kind of wedding dress they want to wear on that memorable occasion. Others haven’t got a clue because meeting prince charming, falling in love and getting married wasn’t even a distant memory until it happened. Either way finding the perfect dress from a wide selection of wedding dresses is not a problem if you use the guidelines given below to help you.

Rule number one is to relax, take deep breaths if necessary and remember there’s a huge range to choose from so you are going to need all of your energy to go shopping for wedding dresses.

Give yourself time: never, ever leave the choosing of a wedding dress to the ‘eleventh’ hour – big mistake! You need to start shopping for wedding dresses at least 6 months before the wedding date. So first fix the date and then go shop. Of course if the wedding is rushed and does not give you so much of time, start shopping as soon as you have a firm date in hand.

Image1 Wedding dresses: Shopping guide

Budget: True enough when you set out to shop for a wedding dress you will not have a clue about prices. You need to do some research to get an idea about what wedding dresses cost and then work out your budget from there. Your choice to get your dress tailored or buy ready made should also be factored into the price.

IMAGE2 Wedding dresses: Shopping guide

Type of dress: the style of the wedding dress will be a huge deciding factor in the eventual cost of the dress. Do you want the whole 9 yards of full length gown with veil and train, Princess Diana style or do you want modern chic that can be backless, strapless, short, sleeveless, etc.

IMAGE3 Wedding dresses: Shopping guide

The dress style will also be reflective of the season in which you are planning to get married. Spring, summer and early fall bring to mind short summer dresses while winter will require something more substantial.

Comfort: let’s face it – you are only going to wear the wedding dress one time in your life but you do want to be comfortable on that ultra special day. Lest we forget, you do want to look sensational as well. If you have a dress that keeps tugging upward or threatening to burst at the seams when you laugh you will be mighty uncomfortable.

Choose the material and style that is best suited to the season and venue chosen for the wedding. If you enjoy dancing you want to be comfortable in the dress. Every decision you make when selecting wedding dresses should be based on style, comfort and looking fabulous. However, be practical and don’t sacrifice too much comfort for fashion’s sake.

Planning for your wedding day is one of the best times of your life – go ahead, splash out but most important of all HAVE FUN!

A theme at a baby shower can make a difference. Having a baby shower with no theme at all can turn a supposed party into a funeral. Trust me. It’s going to be dull, dreary and most of all boring. That is why it’s important to have a motif to make the setting more pleasing to the eye and the preparations for the occasion efficient and better. To turn the ordinary into the extraordinary, we can use the lavender and brown baby shower.

candle wedding favour

The main reason for choosing these colours is its earthly tones. This way we can allow your creative juices to flow from the versatility of these colours. And the first thing that you’ll have to do with all that creative energy is to create invitations.

Image22 Lavender and Brown Baby Shower for the Expecting Mom

Yes, you heard me right. You will create your very own invitations. Not only is it easy to do, but it’s also fun. You can use brown paper for the cards and then glue a small ribbon on the front to give it that extra flair. After making the invitations you can then send them out three weeks before the baby shower. This will allow the expectant mothers friends, family, and whoever it is that was invited to prepare their gifts and to ponder about the best advice that they can share to a pregnant woman.

Now that’s done we move on to the decorations. As I said before, the tones we have chosen are versatile, that means it’ll be easier for you to add any kind of accent if needed. Since the shower will be held inside a house we can make use of the available furniture and decors. A white couch, for example, would make a terrific highlight for your lavender and brown baby shower.

Image32 Lavender and Brown Baby Shower for the Expecting Mom

If you have throw pillows you can buy covers that go with the theme. That very same couch would look stunning if coupled with a brown woolly carpet. Don’t worry if you have a different colour sofa, since any colour would only highlight the lavenders and browns of your throw pillows. To add that Zen feel to your shower you can use a large brown therapeutic candle, surrounded by white flowers, as a centrepiece on your table. Truly, perfection can be achieved from versatility.

image42 Lavender and Brown Baby Shower for the Expecting Mom

Speaking of perfection, you won’t be able to have a perfect lavender and brown baby shower if your food doesn’t go with the theme. As a rule of thumb, some aspect of the food you’ll be serving must have a dash of the themes colour here and there. And that is where chocolates and cakes come in. It would be best to serve a dark chocolate cake since that kind of chocolate is the healthiest of all the varieties. Couple that with a refreshing drink of lemonade poured in lavender colour glass, then you’ll have achieved a perfect lavender and brown baby shower.

image52 Lavender and Brown Baby Shower for the Expecting Mom

The things stated here are just a few examples on the endless possibilities of this kind of theme. The best advice that I can give you is to be creative no matter what. In the end, it doesn’t matter if it’s a lavender and brown baby shower or an orange and green one; the important thing is that you enjoy the preparation and that you pour your heart into the planning.
